The ASUS ZenFone 3 Review

Hay gaizzz, the day is finally here! Arrival and official launch of ASUS ZenFone 3! Had the privilege of testing, using and reviewing the phone prior to its arrival and as mentioned in my previous unboxing video, today i'll be unveiling the official specifications, mechanics and perks of the ZenFone 3. Sit tight!

(Anything that comes in black wins my heart)

(The essentials; mentioned in previous unboxing video)

So it was a tad odd initially for me, as I belong to the iOS group for the longest time. Though it didn't take too long to get used to the Android system (latest version!) which features the brand new ZenUI 3.0. Straightforward and rather user-friendly, it was quite a refreshing change as I get to customize my phone the way I want to (finally!)

 (Oozing pure HD graphics!)

(Spoiled for choice with the inbuilt themes application)

During the whole time while playing with it's functions and downloading all the necessary applications, you'll be enchanted by its sleek round curves, with its finely sandblasted surface. Weighing only at 155 grams but boosting a 5.5-inch display size, holding onto the phone was true blue pleasure.

(Front and rear are fully covered with protective sheets of tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which means, damage resistant!)

(Built-in fingerprint sensor that unlocks phone in split seconds)

When it comes to smartphones, the crucial factors that I need - Speed, Battery life and Camera. As entrepreneurs and content creators, we constantly find the need to have a phone that matches to our erratic schedules (Battery life), juggling between DOZENS of apps (Speed) and of course, capturing the content that we need to present when we are on the go (Camera).

When it comes to speed, I didnt had much issue after loading the ZENFONE 3 with all my usual applications which consists of the usual social media apps, chrome, 3 different types of emails, photo editing apps, whatsapp, line and of course, Pokemon GO. Surprisingly, the phone kept up pretty well with zero lags and crashes since I start using it.

(Though I believe I need a new internet service provider.....)

Accompanied by its Adreno 506GPU, which exudes true HD graphics; an absolute treat for mobile gamers. And coming hand in hand, the battery life was amazeballs. It stood by me for 2 full remarkable days after the initial full charge (I'm sure it can last you at least 3-4 days if you are not a heavy smartphone user).

(Don't you just hate.......)

The best and most enticing part of this phone (for me!) was the powerful 16 Megapixel Rear Camera. Pairing with it were intense features, some of these my favorites:

  • Color Correction Sensor - Automatically adjusting colors in photos to look exact & natural
  • Tritech Auto Focus - The ability to achieve continuous auto focus on moving subjects with a range of 1.5 meters
  • Super Resolution Mode - Now, we can create 64MP photos with enhanced clarity, less noise and superb detail

Simply put, you have probably zero use of a digital camera if you have this gadget with you. Utilizing the phone to photograph anything and everything was an absolute breeze. See and witness for yourself!

(Manual controls. Great to learn the fundamental as it allows you to adjust white balance, ISO sensitivity, exposure value, shutter speed and focus)

(Getting a picture of my munchkin!)

(Very specific modes for various situations)

(Product shoot for my client under minimal lighting)

Aside from the photography, I was pretty psyched to watch videos on the phone as we constantly need to researched tones of clips for work purposes and also.....  NETFLIX! Did a quick recording on the sick graphics and just hear how crisp the video is....

(LEGIONNNNNNN.... AMPLIFIEDDD)

With so many killer features, I can hardly fault this phone other than using it for a longer period, to see if its hardware is able to withstand the test of time. Surely, along with its enticing price, its hardly a smartphone that you can say no to.

(Colors available for purchase!)

(Also a great prop for shoots XD)

As I'm off to the media launch event at Somerset 313 today, keep watching this space as I update event deets! You can also head on to https://www.facebook.com/ASUSmobileSingapore/ for more information and updates!
